VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP Lakeview clinches share of title
Springfield remained unbeaten in the Inter-County League.
CORTLAND -- The Lakeview High volleyball team clinched a share of the Trumbull Athletic Conference crown with a 15-7, 15-5 victory over Champion on Thursday.
Whitney Keyser had 13 kills and two blocks, while Megan Taylor contributed 14 assists and four aces, and Michelle Antonelli eight assists and 10 digs for the Bulldogs (19-1, 12-0 TAC).
For Champion, Amber VanOrman had four kills, six digs and an ace, and Heather Pegg added four kills and two blocks.
Hubbard 15-15, Liberty 5-7
LIBERTY -- Traci Hassell paced the Eagles (15-3, 11-2 TAC) with 15 points and 11 assists. Diana Conzett had 10 kills.
Sunny Smallwood led the Leopards (9-11, 5-7) with three points, two kills and two digs. Mary Massaro had three assists and two digs.
Girard 15-15, LaBrae 11-4
LEAVITTSBURG -- Kristen Ragozine scored eight points, one ace, eight kills and six digs to spark the Indians (12-8, 8-4 TAC). Nicole Melfi had four digs.
Maddie D'Orio had 12 kills and three blocks for the Vikings (2-18, 1-11). Tiffany Burris had seven digs.
Brookfield 15-15, Newton Falls 1-4
BROOKFIELD -- Jessica Zebroski scored 14 points, with seven digs and four kills, to pace the Warriors (11-5, 7-5 TAC). Katie Miller had five kills, six digs and two blocks.
Molly Lenarcic led the Tigers with two kills, two blocks and three digs. Brittany Romain had two kills and a block.
Salem 15-15, Howland 4-6
HOWLAND -- Lauren Teal had 10 points, one ace, six kills and five blocks as the Quakers stopped Howland in a Metro Athletic Conference match.
Jill Barry added 15 assists and Sarah Hamilton five blocks for Salem (16-4, 10-1 MAC).
For Howland (14-6, 5-5), Jaime Kelly had three points, one ace, three kills, one assist, one block and five digs; Brittany Kelly had three kills, four assists and one save; and Tara Rose added two points, one ace and two blocks.
Poland 15-15, Alliance 11-11
POLAND -- Dee Muransky sparked the Bulldogs (17-3, 9-1 MAC) with 10 kills, eight points and four digs. Ashley Conger had 14 assists, 10 points, two aces and three digs.
Jan Kehres led the Aviators with 10 kills and six points.
Western Reserve 15-8-15,Mineral Ridge 13-15-7
MINERAL RIDGE -- Leta Lenhart paced the Blue Devils (10-11, 6-5 Inter-County League) with 12 points and 14 assists. Andrea Martin added 11 points and Tekla Toman nine kills.
Sarah Stark led the Rams with 11 points. Robin Zimmerman had eight points and an ace and Abbey Kiger had eight kills and eight blocks.
Springfield 15-15,Jackson-Milton 6-8
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Tigers (18-2) won for the 13th straight time and remained unbeaten in the ICL (10-0).
Carrie Davis sparked the Tigers with 11 points, three aces, 10 kills and a block. Meghan Louttit had three points, 50 sets and 25 assists.
Lacie Campbell led the Bluejays (11-7) with four points, one ace, four kills and four blocks. Rachel Kovach had four points and an ace and Megan Whitmer had nine assists.
Mathews 16-15, Lowellville 14-7
LOWELLVILLE -- Sophie Paddock had 10 points, four kills and two aces for the Mustangs.
Karen Pilati added seven points, two assists, two aces and a dig for Mathews (3-11, 1-10 ICL).
For Lowellville (5-11, 1-8), Emily Vasilchek had six assists, four digs, three points and an ace, while Kathy Peterson had five kills, one assist, six digs, three points and an ace.
Mooney 5-16-18, Warren Harding 15-14-16
YOUNGSTOWN -- Bridget Kelly had six kills and five points and Petrina Morocco five kills and nine points in the Cardinals' three-set win.
Also for Mooney (7-10), April Ruse had five kills and six points; Michelle Pelini three kills and four points; and Danielle Daltorio nine assists and five points.
Ursuline 15-15, Southington 7-11
YOUNGSTOWN -- Emily Herman had 14 points and five kills, Alessandra Parry four kills and Jenna Kiraly eight assists for the Irish (3-9).
For Southington (4-8), Haylie Myers had five kills and Amy Holko eight points and five aces.
Northwest 15-15, West Branch 2-6
BELOIT -- Ashley Armstrong scored two points, with three blocks and five passes, for the Warriors (12-8, 6-6 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Kate Bailey had three points, 10 passes and an assist.
Ashley Ross led Northwest (13-5, 11-1) with eight points and six kills. Melissa Eckroad had 11 assists.
