RECOGNITION Area Mason honored for leadership
AUSTINTOWN -- During the annual session of the Supreme Council on Sept. 23 in St. Louis, David A. Rich of Austintown was elected to receive the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree next September in Milwaukee.
The degree is awarded to Scottish Rite Masons for active service in Masonry, especially the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, and for outstanding leadership in their communities.
A past master of Mahoning Lodge 394, F & amp;AM, in Niles, Rich has served the Grand Lodge of Ohio as district deputy grand master, the Grand Chapter as district deputy grand high priest, and the Grand Commandery as deputy division commander.
He is a member and past presiding officer of the York Rite Bodies in Niles, a member of Ohio Priory 18, Knights of the York Cross of Honour, and past very eminent preceptor of Our Savior Tabernacle 33, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templer Priests, and has served seven terms as worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star.
He is a past sovereign prince of Youngstown Council Princes of Jerusalem, and has been associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters and the Order of Eastern Star youth representative. He is a member of York Rite College, attended Niles schools and is a machinist with the R.L. Best Co.
Other memberships
Rich served in the U.S. Marine Corps, is a member of Ohltown United Methodist Church, where he has held many offices, and has been an equipment manager for 10 years with Austintown Little Eagles Football Team.
He and his wife, Candy, are the parents of seven sons and five daughters.
