Certificate programs
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- First-aid and lifeguard certificate programs are being offered at Slippery Rock University's Robert N. Aebersold Student Recreation Center. First-aid certification will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 20 and Nov. 7. The fee is $30 for recreation center members and $40 for nonmembers. Lifeguard certification will be from 5-8 p.m. Sundays, today through Dec. 2 or Feb. 15 to April 26. The fee is $125 for members and $200 for nonmembers. Swim lessons for youths and adults will be offered for center members in two sessions from Monday to Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 to Dec. 6. The fee is $15 per session.
'Messiah' rehearsals
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The New Castle Music Club Chorus will begin rehearsing for its 63rd performance of George Frederick Handel's "Messiah," which will be at First Christian Church of New Castle Nov. 30. Women's workshop
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A two-day financial workshop for women, taught by women is planned for Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 at New Castle Country Club. "Taking Control: A Financial Management Workshop for Women" sponsored by Diversified Advisors Inc. will be both days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $25 for both sessions, which includes a workbook. To be covered: cash management, risk management, investment planning, tax planning, retirement planning and estate planning.
