Reliving a little history in the classroom

Students at Trumbull Career and Technical Center got a lesson about the Middle Ages from Dr. Eleanor Congdon, a professor of medieval history at Youngstown State University. Bob Hayden of Brookfield, above, dressed in period costume, including chain mail, as Congdon described two types of flails used as weapons. Below, she pulled out a pumpkin, raised her broadsword and swiftly sliced the gourd in half to show the brutality of the period. Story on B2.
