Police arrest 2 teens after South Side fight
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two teenagers -- one on parole -- were arrested when police responded to calls about a large fight and gunfire on East Florida Avenue near South Avenue.
Police saw a large crowd of teenagers fighting when they arrived at 3 p.m. Thursday. They also spotted a white car speeding off in reverse.
Witnesses told police that the gunfire had come from occupants of the white car. The driver, Lawrence Anderson, 18, of Hilton Avenue was arrested on charges of mishandling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct and having no driver's license, reports show.
His passenger, Lawrence Mimms, 17, faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Police discovered that a pickup order had been issued for Mimms by the juvenile justice center on charges of receiving stolen property, failure to appear in court and parole violation.
