Melillos renew marriage vows on anniversary



XLOWELLVILLE -- Mr. and Mrs. William Melillo, 4709 New Castle Road, observed their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their marriage vows at an 8:30 a.m. Mass celebrated Sept. 7 by the Rev. Gerald DeLucia at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church where they were united in marriage Sept. 5, 1953, and where they are members.
Afterward the couple were honored at a dinner party held at the Olive Garden in Boardman. Hosts for the event were their children and their spouses, David and Jodi Melillo of West Pittsburg, Pa., Michele and John Perry of Lowellville, and Trish Notareschi of Lowellville. Also participating were their five grandchildren.
Mrs. Melillo, the former Marie Mulina, is semi-retired and is employed as a secretary at the Conti Corp.
After 32 years of service in the field of education, Mr. Melillo retired in 1998 from Lowellville Local School District where he was an elementary teacher and Title 1 coordinator. A lifetime member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Mahoning Valley Retired Teachers Association, Mr. Melillo, a U.S. Army veteran, served during the Korean War.
