Mahoning Co. official to lead association
COLUMBUS -- Matthew Stefanak, Mahoning County health commissioner, has been elected to a one-year term as president of the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners.
His term as association president will begin in September 2004, but, as president-elect, he immediately joins the group's board.
Stefanak, of Pulaski, Pa., who has been Mahoning County health commissioner since 1988, was elected at a recent conference, which focused on the SARS outbreak in Toronto and defense against bioterrorism.
The Columbus-based association represents Ohio's 137 health districts in legislative and public health policy issues and provides continuing education for the state's 3,000-member public health work force.
