GIRARD -- The Youngstown Branch of the NAACP will have its annual Freedom Fund Banquet at 7 p.m. Friday in the Mahoning County Club.
Keynote speaker is Jomo Bellard, assistant director of the NAACP's national youth, college and young adult division.
The theme again this year is "Freedom Under Fire," which underscores the challenges facing minority communities and encourages civil-right leaders, volunteers, policy-makers and corporations to share models for civil-rights advocacy and to strengthen communities.

No Greenwood concert
BOARDMAN -- Boardman Boosters Club has announced the cancellation of a concert next Saturday featuring country singer Lee Greenwood. No reason was given.
Refunds will be available in the Boardman High School athletics office, 7777 Glenwood Ave.
