KENT -- Youngstown State improved to 6-1 in its fall season by winning twice in the Kent Invitational.
YSU defeated Toledo 2-1 and Bowling Green 2-0.

SVC to voteon JFK invitation
WARREN -- The Steel Valley Conference executive board will vote Wednesday morning on accepting Warren John F. Kennedy as a new member, SVC commissioner Mike Butch said.
In addition to Butch, the executive board consists of principals and athletic directors from members Cardinal Mooney, Ursuline and Warren Harding. A 2/3 vote is needed for a proposal to pass.
Since Austintown Fitch and Boardman left for the Federal League, the SVC has been seeking to rebuild itself, and this marks the first step in doing so.
If accepted by the committee, Warren JFK would inform the SVC of its official intentions and the Eagles would join in every sport except football.
Warren Harding'sChaney selected
WARREN -- Isaac Chaney, a senior punter with the Warren Harding High football team, was named Steel Valley Conference player of the week for his role in the Raiders' victory over Ursuline.
Chaney (6-foot-4, 228 pounds) had kicks of 44 and 35 yards, which set up Warren Harding scores.
Fair had big night
WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. -- West Middlesex senior slotback Paul Fair had 129 yards in receptions in Big Reds' 26-7 victory over Saegertown last Friday.
One of the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Fair's five catches was for a touchdown. Fair's evening also included three rushing TDs and an interception from his outside linebacker position.

PAC namesplayers of the week
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- A pair of Westminster College athletes have been honored as players of the week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
Junior running back Scott Froelich (Cuyahoga Falls) was named PAC football offensive player of the week. Froelich rushed 32 times for 150 yards in the Titans' 3-0 overtime win at Allegheny.
Senior Sean Gallagher (Valencia, Pa.) was PAC men's cross country runner of the week. Gallagher earned PAC Runner of the Week laurels for the second time this season after finishing as the top PAC runner at the St. Vincent College Invitational. Gallagher finished fourth out of 68 runners with an 8-kilometer time of 28:29.
Thiel junior Katie Mound (Southeast) was PAC women's soccer player of the week for the second time in a row.
She posted her second straight hat trick in the Tomcats' only game of the week, a 3-2 victory over Baldwin-Wallace.
Legends of Leatherhall of fame banquet
NILES -- The Legends of Leather Club will hold its Hall of Fame banquet at Aulizio's Oct. 12 at 1:15 p.m.
The inductees this year are Gregg Augustine, Lawrence Moler, Robert Thompson and Orlando DePietro.
John Russell will be the guest speaker. Steve Kostrubanic will be honored as Man of the Year.

Koehler resignsas Phantoms GM
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown Phantoms announced that general manager Jason Koehler has resigned for personal reasons.
In Koehler's absence, Phantoms coach Bob Mainhardt will assume the general manager's duties on an interim basis.
