WARREN Ex-forger, film subject will speak

The speaker cashed $2.5 million in fraudulent checks.
WARREN -- Frank Abagnale, whose story was told in the movie "Catch Me If You Can," is the first guest lecturer of the season for the YWCA of Warren's Trumbull Town Hall Lecture Series.
Abagnale will speak at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at Packard Music Hall. Abagnale is an authority on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents. For more than 25 years, he has lectured to and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world.
More than 30 years ago, Abagnale cashed $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every state and 26 countries over a five-year period. Between the ages of 16 and 21, he successfully posed as an airline pilot, attorney, college professor and pediatrician.
He served time in French, Spanish and U.S. prisons and was released from prison on the condition that he would help the government, without remuneration, by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies.
