Cops in Shops program
BROOKFIELD -- The township police department will work with local alcohol vendors to stop underage people from buying alcohol and to stop those over 21 from buying it for minors.
The Cops in Shops program will kick off Oct. 3-5, with undercover officers posing as employees in retail stores to stop underage sales. Officers also will be targeting false IDs and other alcohol-related problems.
The Cops in Shops program is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
Historical Society event
LIBERTY -- The Liberty Historical Society will have an open house from 1-3 p.m. Sunday. The historical society's museum is in the old Mahoning/Key Bank building in the Liberty Plaza.
On display will be class pictures that used to hang in the old Liberty High School. Refreshments will be served.
Boat cruises planned
PORTERSVILLE, Pa. -- The Moraine Preservation Fund will have boat cruises on Lake Arthur every Saturday and Sunday in October. Cruises are at noon, 1:30 and 3 p.m. Cost is $5.25 for adults and $2.50 for children. Call (724) 368-9185 for reservations.
