PREP SOCCER Lakeview defeats Ursuline



Kelli Willis scored two goals for the Mooney girls.
STRUTHERS -- Danny Myers had a goal and an assist Saturday to lead the Lakeview High boys soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Ursuline at Tri-County Sports.
Kevin Copenhaver and David Beaumont each added goals for Lakeview (8-4-1), and Jeremy Mink recorded an assist. Goalie Alex Koltsov made 10 saves.
For the Irish (3-8-2), Ryan Novotny scored off an assist by Chris DePaola. Goalie Gerad Daly made nine saves.
Salem 2, United 0
SALEM -- Dominic Gilbey had a goal and an assist to lead Salem to victory over United.
Hank Loudon had the Quakers' other goal, while Brian Schwartz contributed an assist.
Salem (3-9) goalie Andrew Loudon had three saves.
United (4-8-1) goalie Evan Egli had eight saves.
Howland 7, Warren Harding 1
WARREN -- Andrew Garber scored two goals and had an assist for the Tigers (8-2-2).
The Tigers' other goals were scored by Neil Clagett, Marc Dunbar, Mark Burley, Mike Maiorano and Mark Hammond.
Malik Mohammad, Dante Florino Hammond and Lucas Martorana each had an assist. Goalie Zac Roscoe had seven saves.
Chris Penman tallied the Raiders' only goal and Steve King had seven saves.
Boardman 2, Poland 0
BOARDMAN -- Joe Campesi and Jordan Winters scored to lead Boardman past Poland. The Spartans have won five of their last six games.
Jeremy Winters assisted on both goals for Boardman, and goalie Mark Lipinsky recorded his second straight shutout.

AUSTINTOWN -- Sophomore Jared VanArsdale had four goals, sophomore Kory Cooper and freshman Brian Johnston had two goals apiece and Jamie Mocker had the other point in a game at Highway Tabernacle Church.
VanArsdale had two assists, while Cooper, Mocker, a freshman, and Sal Mineo, a junior, each had an assist for the winners (4-1).
VanArsdale assisted on both of Cooper's goals, Cooper assisted on Mocker's, Mineo on one of Johnston's and Mocker on one of VanArsdale's.
Of 29 shots taken by East Liverpool Christian, freshman goalie Joey Suszcyski made 10 saves for Youngstown Christian.
West Branch 2, Hubbard 0
BELOIT -- Robbie Kocher and Cory Criss each scored a goal for the Warriors (9-2-2). Tom Geiger and Keith Moutin had an assist apiece.
The Warriors had 13 shots on goal, compared to nine for the Eagles.
Goalkeeper Shane Young had six saves for West Branch, while Aaron Severa had five for Hubbard.
Girls
STRUTHERS -- Cardinal Mooney overcame a waterlogged field and spirited Salem for a 2-0 victory.
The Cardinals (6-4-1) were led by two goals from Kelli Willis, giving the sophomore 16 on the season and 41 for her career. Assists were provided by Kelly Burke and Marisa Simon.
Mooney goalkeeper Veronica Skowron totaled 11 saves.
Salem's record is 2-6-2.
Boardman 2, Poland 1
POLAND -- Sisters Brittany Sirak and Lauren Sirak scored and assisted on each other's goals as Boardman edged Poland.
Spartans (8-1-2) goalkeeper Liz Agnew made seven saves.
For Poland (9-2-2), Laura Hassay scored on an assist from Krista Ginnetti. Goalkeeper Landry Yankle made five saves.
Fitch 2, Canfield 1
AUSTINTOWN -- Jodi Bowlen put the Falcons (8-3-2) ahead when she scored a goal on an assist by Brittney Getz with 32 minutes, 20 seconds remaining in the first half.
Then with seven seconds left in the first half, Kelly Croysdale scored on a penalty kick.
Whitney Zunic got the Cardinals' (3-4-4) only goal at the 36:03 mark of the second half.
Fitch had 21 shots on goal, compared to seven for Canfield.
Cardinals goalkeeper Callie Carrera had 10 saves. Kristi Brendlinger had six saves for the Falcons.
West Branch 1,St. Thomas Aquinas 1
LOUISVILLE -- St. Thomas Aquinas took a 1-0 lead in the first half before junior midfielder Paige Stryfeller scored for West Branch (9-0-4) early in the second half.
Stryfeller's goal was assisted by sophomore Ashley Kurena, an outside midfielder.
Junior goalie Carlie Proffenberger had nine saves for West Branch.
West Branch's other ties were with Poland, Mooney and Northwest. The Warriors' next match is Wednesday at home against Marlington.
