Center accepting donations for 'mitten tree'

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngsters in Mahoning County will be a bit warmer this winter thanks to the efforts of students, staff and teachers at the Choffin Career & amp; Technical Center.
A "mitten tree" has been erected in the center's second-floor display window. Teresita Hartz, a college tech prep and business technology teacher at the center, has asked for donations of mittens or gloves to be presented to the Mahoning County Children's Services, for distribution to youngsters in need. Monetary donations will be used to purchase additional mittens and gloves.
Over the past 23 years, Choffin personnel have donated more than 3,200 items. Collection will run until Dec. 15. Call Hartz at (330) 744-8759 for information.
