Boy in bin suffers injuryas trash is compacted
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 16-year-old boy who had been asleep in a large trash bin behind the Mahoning Plaza was accidentally crushed when a BFI truck driver compacted the trash about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.
The victim, Justin Harrison of West Boston Avenue, was in stable condition today at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Harrison told police that he believed he was being followed and hid in the bin but fell asleep.
The BFI driver, after collecting the trash from behind the plaza, proceeded to empty the trash bins behind Chaney High School on South Hazelwood Avenue.
That's when the driver heard pounding and screaming and found Harrison, bleeding from both feet.
