WARREN -- The former financial officer at Kirila Contractors of Brookfield has been sentenced to six months in an alternative jail program.
The sentencing for Robert P. Mild, 35, of Stewart-Sharon Road, Brookfield, took place during a brief hearing Tuesday in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Both Mild and his attorney, Phil Vigorito, declined to comment.
Mild will serve his six months at the Warren Alternative Sentencing Program. WASP is an alternative to jail for nonviolent offenders. The program will allow Mild to work during the day and spend his evenings at the facility, officials said.
It is not known if Mild is employed.
The judge also ordered Mild to surrender his CPA license, pay $791,514 in restitution and serve five years' probation.
Mild has reimbursed his former employer $425,000 so far, Vigorito said.
Stolen money
Sheriff Thomas Altiere has said that Mild, who was free on a $100,000 bond pending his sentencing, was accused of stealing the money during the 10 years he worked for the company.
Authorities say they believe Mild used the money to buy numerous parcels, several houses, including his home, 17 stocks, three gas and oil wells and 13 vehicles.
Court records further noted that Mild owns several businesses, including Mild Farms, Mild Realty, Stewart Realty, Peas in a Pod Day Care and Cherry Street Day Care.
Deputies stated that the Kirilas noticed the theft a few months ago, after they hired an auditor to review their books. To assist in the investigation, deputies confiscated Mild's home computer and numerous papers.
