TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jermaine Robinson scored 24 points and Pape Badiane posted a double-double to lead Cleveland State to a foul-marred 97-88 win over Florida A & amp;M on Tuesday night.
Robinson led the Vikings (1-0) in scoring, but struggled from the floor, shooting 8-of-22. Badiane had 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Demarcus Wilkins posted a game-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Rattlers (0-1). Terrence Woods added 20 for the Rattlers.
Fouls were a problem throughout the game, with both teams combining for 82 total fouls resulting in 112 total free throw attempts. The Vikings made 40 free throws on 63 percent shooting from the line. Florida A & amp;M made 33-of-48 free throws.
The NCAA single game record for combined fouls is 84, set by Arizona (50) and Northern Arizona (34) in 1953.
In all, six players fouled out, three on each team. The Rattlers' bench was also called for two technical fouls.
Florida A & amp;M held the lead for most of the game until a late run by Cleveland State that started with a pair of free throws off a technical foul at the 12 minute mark.
Omari Westley scored eight of his 18 points and went 6-6 from the line during the closing minutes of the game to seal the win. Percell Coles also had 11 for the Vikings.
Butler 56, N. Iowa 54
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Mike Monserez hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Butler a victory over Northern Iowa.
The final was the only lead for Butler (2-0) in the second half. Northern Iowa (1-1) led 54-50 on Ben Jacobson's two free throws with 19 seconds left. Then the Bulldogs' Bruce Moran hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining.
Jacobson was fouled again with five seconds left but missed the first shot and Butler rebounded to set up Monserez's final shot.
Duane Lightfoot led Butler scoring with 14 points and Horan had 12.
Cedarville 68, Wright St. 66
DAYTON -- Anthony Delimpo scored 20 points and hit the go-ahead jumper with eight seconds remaining, leading NAIA Cedarville to an upset of Wright State.
The Raiders (0-1) led 33-23 at halftime and most of the second half until Jason Weakley and Mugabe Thomas each hit 3-pointers and Greg Guiler added a layup to put Cedarville (6-1) ahead 54-53 with 5:19 remaining.
The score was tied four times, the last time at 64 with 55 seconds remaining. Josh Gast then made a free throw to put Cedarville ahead 65-64.
Ill.-Chicago 77, Evansville 73
CHICAGO -- Cedrick Banks scored 25 points and Aaron Carr added 14 to lead Illinois-Chicago to a defeat of Evansville.
Joe Scott added 10 points for Illinois-Chicago (4-1) while Martell Bailey had 15 assists .
Evansville (0-2) held a 46-43 lead at the half, but the Flames regained the lead in the second period.
The Purple Aces were led by Clint Cuffle's 11 points while Lucious Wagner and Dewayne Lee each scored 10. Wagner also grabbed 11 rebounds and finished the game one assist shy of a triple-double.
Wis.-Milwaukee 90, Concordia-St. Paul 62
MILWAUKEE -- Ed McCants scored 23 points as Wisconsin-Milwaukee defeated Concordia-St. Paul.
Joah Tucker added 15 and Dylan Page had 14 for Milwaukee.
The Panthers raised their record to 2-0 and increased their home winning streak to 17 games. The Golden Bears (1-1), a Division II team, were led by Brian Jamros with 24 points.
