CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight
YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY
Nicholas Mastramico of Boardman, a fourth-year mechanical-engineering student, will attend a January co-op position at NASA U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., where he will be involved as a resident assistant and counselor, as well as supervising and teaching future cadets. He will also study and receive training in space science, history, military, aviation and engineering and work in a simulation area to study space shuttle mission simulators and jet fighter operations. A 2000 graduate of Boardman High School, he is the son of Thomas and Jolene Mastramico.
OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY, Ada
Accounting major Nicholas Frankle, son of Philip and Celeste Frankle of Canfield, has been elected to serve on the College of Business Administration Dean's Advisory Council. The 17-member student group serves as the dean's closest advisers. Frankle was one of four freshman selected by the dean to sit on the council, where he will remain until graduation.
CLARION UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
Shaun Saad, son of William and Sheila Saad of Poland, has been invited to join the international Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, an association of business school students and professionals. Membership is reserved for students in the top 7 percent of their junior class, top 10 percent of a senior class or top 20 percent of master's programs.
BALDWIN-WALLACE COLLEGE, Berea
Senior education major Kelly Naples of Canfield was elected as this year's Homecoming Queen. She is president of the Alpha Phi Sorority, director of the Health Promotion Grant Board and the outreach and education chair for Dance Marathon, an annual fund-raiser for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. A 2000 graduate of Canfield High School, she is the daughter of Robin and George Naples.
UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO
Natalie Elaine McNally of Youngstown has accepted membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society, an organization that recognizes college juniors and seniors in the top 15 percent of their class. McNally, a 2000 Boardman High School graduate, is the daughter of Jennifer and Dan McNally.
ALBION COLLEGE, Albion, Mich.
Freshman Amy K. Naramore of Beloit was accepted into the college's Honor Institute, designed to give students challenges and opportunities beyond traditional courses. Students are required to study in four "great issues" seminars in humanities, science, social science and fine arts, keep a grade point average of at least 3.5 and produce a research-based thesis. A West Branch High School student, Naramore is the daughter of Pamela Hilles.
