VINDICATOR CRIME REPORTER
YOUNGSTOWN -- Wayne A. Castle Jr., his nose and mouth bloody, told police he deserved to be beaten by an angry crowd because he had sexual contact with two little girls.
When arrested Sunday on two counts of rape, Castle, 22, waived his right to be silent and volunteered to tell police what happened Saturday night at his West Wood Street apartment. He also signed a nine-page statement and consented to the seizure of items from the apartment, police said.
Castle was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center then booked into the Mahoning County jail, pending arraignment today in municipal court.
Police found Castle naked Sunday afternoon on the porch in the 100 block of Williamson Avenue, where they'd been sent to check out a report of a loud disturbance. A crowd near the porch screamed that Castle had sexually assaulted the girls, ages 3 and 7, who live there.
The girls were given a rape examination at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. The younger turns 4 on Tuesday.
The girls' mother told police that her daughters, who have known Castle about one year, went to his apartment around 9 p.m. Saturday and returned home Sunday afternoon. The girls told their mother that Castle had touched them and made them shave his back, reports show.
The girls mother said Castle had warned them that if they told what happened, they wouldn't be allowed to see him anymore.
Confession
In his confession to police, after being advised of his right to remain silent, Castle said he touched them inappropriately and took a bath with both of them.
Police collected towels, sheets, a saucepan and soap used for the shaving and three razors.
Castle told police that he was beaten up by an unidentified group of people at the girls' Williamson Avenue home.
Municipal court records show that Castle was sentenced in April for unrelated convictions of criminal trespassing and criminal damaging. He received 90 days in jail, with 60 suspended and credit for 30 days served.
