North Jackson woman is finalist in Farm Bureau competition
COLUMBUS -- Jenifer Weaver of North Jackson is one of three state finalists in the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation's Excellence in Agriculture contest.
The Excellence in Agriculture award recognizes successful young people 35 or younger who are involved in farming but whose primary occupation is not farming or owning an agricultural business. The award is based on their involvement in agriculture and participation in Farm Bureau and other community organizations.
Weaver is grain department manager for Deerfield Farms Service and is responsible for origination and merchandising of grain for five elevators. She has served on numerous Mahoning County Farm Bureau committees, has been active with Farm Bureau Youth, and has attended various state Farm Bureau events.
Weaver will compete against two other regional finalists selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. The winner will receive an expense-paid trip to the American Farm Bureau annual meeting in Honolulu in January to represent Ohio in the national competition. The state winner also will receive a $500 cash award from Dodge Trucks and a $1,000 technology package sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. The state winner will be named Dec. 4 during the annual federation convention in Columbus.
