STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Kelly Mazzante scored 22 points and became Penn State's career scoring leader, leading the No. 9 Lady Lions to an 83-46 victory over No. 12 LSU on Friday night.
Mazzante tied Susan Robinson's record with a free throw with 12:45 left in the second half and broke the mark 13 seconds later after being fouled. Mazzante has 2,260 points, seven more than Robinson scored 2,253 from 1989-92.
Tanisha Wright had 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Penn State (1-0). Temeka Johnson led LSU (1-2) with 18 points.
No. 4 Duke 108, Elon 26
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Alana Beard scored 19 points in Duke's biggest blowout victory ever.
Duke, coming off a season-opening loss to No. 2 Texas, broke the school margin record of 78 points set against Temple in 1998.
Monique Currie added 16 points, and Mistie Bass and Brittany Hunter had 15 apiece for Duke, which scored the first 15 points and had two 20-0 runs in the second half.
No. 6 Stanford 69, Pepperdine 61
MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Nicole Powell had 28 points and 12 rebounds in No. 6 Stanford's 69-61 victory over Pepperdine on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Powell, a preseason All-America selection, scored 20 of her 28 points in the second half. Chelsea Trotter added 15 points and Sebnem Kimyacioglu scored 12 points for the Cardinal.
Shanell Law led the Waves with 14 points.
Pepperdine rallied from a 27-25 halftime deficit by making its first five shots from the field in the second half to take a 36-32 lead. Kelli Spencer scored five of her 13 points in the rally.
But with the score tied at 41, Stanford used a 20-5 run to build a 61-46 lead. Powell powered the surge with nine points.
No. 8 Kansas St. 76, W. Illinois 48
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Kendra Wecker scored 19 points and Nicole Ohlde had 17 for Kansas State (1-1).
Freshman Twiggy McIntyre scored nine of her 12 points in Kansas State's 25-7 second-half run, and Laurie Koehn added 11 points.
Tiffany Cornelius led Western Illinois (0-1) with 18 points.
No. 10 Georgia 87, Georgia St. 48
ATHENS, Ga. -- Kara Braxton had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Christi Thomas added 12 points and seven blocks, leading Georgia past Georgia State in the season opener for both teams.
Holly Coates had 11 points for Georgia State.
No. 14 North Carolina 80, St. Francis, Pa. 44
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Camille Little had 19 points and 13 rebounds, and North Carolina held St. Francis to 22-percent shooting.
Ivory Latta added 17 points, Candace Sutton had 16 and La'Tangela Atkinson 14 for North Carolina in the season opener for both teams. Beth Swink scored 14 points for St. Francis.
No. 20 Notre Dame 74, Valparaiso 57
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Jacqueline Batteast had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Notre Dame held Valparaiso to 29 percent shooting.
Courtney LaVere added 11 points, and Le'Tania Severe had 10 for the Irish (2-1). Jenna Stangler and Mayella Kuikhoven scored 15 points each for Valparaiso (0-3).
No. 25 Auburn 92, Stetson 37
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Le'Coe Willingham was 9-of-11 from the field and scored 17 of her 21 points in the first half for Auburn.
Natasha Brackett added 14 points and Marita Payne had 12 for the Tigers (2-1). Kristy Brown led Stetson (0-1) with 14 points.
