The Jayhawks shook off a slow start to beat Chatanooga, 90-76.

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Bill Self won in his Kansas coaching debut after replacing Roy Williams, and the Jayhawks overcame a slow start to defeat Chattanooga, 90-76.
Keith Langford scored 24 points and Wayne Simien had 21 points and eight rebounds for Kansas, coming off consecutive appearances in the Final Four under Williams.
No. 10 Kentucky 65, Winthrop 44
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Erik Daniels scored 15 points and the Wildcats opened the second half with a 16-3 run for the easy win.
Chuck Hayes and Gerald Fitch added 12 points apiece and Kelenna Azubuike had 11 for the Wildcats, who forced Winthrop into 29 turnovers.
Josh Grant had nine points to lead Winthrop.
No. 14 Oklahoma 69, E. Washington 59
NORMAN, Okla. -- DeAngelo Alexander scored 18 points for Oklahoma in the first round of the Sooner Invitational.
Oklahoma, which trailed by 13 in the first half, will face Oral Roberts in tonight's championship game. Josh Barnard scored 17 points for the Eagles.

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Ronny Turiaf scored 18 points, and Gonzaga used an 18-0 run to pull away.
Blake Stepp, the West Coast Conference player of the year, was held to 11 points, but finished with 13 assists for the Bulldogs (1-1). Tyrone Hayes led Idaho (1-2) with 20 points.

Julius Hodge scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds, leading the Wolfpack in a season opener.
Hodge, a junior who was a first-team all-ACC pick last season, was 9-for-12 from the field. Scooter Sherrill added 14 with four 3-pointers while Marcus Melvin had 11 for North Carolina State.

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Tony Allen scored 18 points and Ivan McFarlin added 15 for the Cowboys in the season opener for both teams.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Kelly Mazzante scored 22 points and became Penn State's career scoring leader, leading the No. 9 Lions to an 83-46 victory over LSU.
Mazzante tied Susan Robinson's record with a free throw with 12:45 left in the second half and broke the mark 13 seconds later after being fouled. Mazzante has 2,260 points, seven more than Robinson scored 2,253 from 1989-92.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Alana Beard scored 19 points in Duke's biggest blowout victory ever.
Duke, coming off a season-opening loss to No. 2 Texas, broke the school margin record of 78 points set against Temple in 1998.

MALIBU, Calif. -- Nicole Powell had 28 points and 12 rebounds in No. 6 Stanford's 69-61 victory over Pepperdine on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Powell, a preseason All-America selection, scored 20 of her 28 points in the second half. Chelsea Trotter added 15 points and Sebnem Kimyacioglu scored 12 points for the Cardinal.
Shanell Law led the Waves with 14 points.

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kendra Wecker scored 19 points and Nicole Ohlde had 17 for Kansas State (1-1).
Freshman Twiggy McIntyre scored nine of her 12 points in Kansas State's 25-7 second-half run, and Laurie Koehn added 11 points.
