Beaver trappers getspecial opportunities
Special drawings for beaver trappers will be held at several Ohio public sites in December.
These trapping opportunities on public lands are due to flooding from beaver dams that is interfering with other management practices or is affecting adjacent private property or roads.
Drawings will allow trappers to work on the Grand River Wildlife Area, West Branch State Park and Punderson State Park from Jan. 10 to Feb. 29, 2004. and at the Spencer Lake Wildlife Area, Harrison and Fernwood state forests and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District from Dec. 26 to Feb. 29, 2004.
Trappers at Grand River, West Branch, Spencer Lake or the MWCD will be selected in drawings at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 at the following sites: Grand River (four trappers) and West Branch (one trapper), Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area, 8303 N. Park Ave., North Bloomfield; Spencer Lake (one trapper), Spencer Lake Wildlife Area office, 5852 River Corners Road, Spencer, Ohio.
Drawings at 9 a.m. Dec. 19 will be held for Fernwood and Harrison state forests (one trapper each) at the Division of Forestry office, 2205 Reiser Ave., S.E., New Philadelphia. For the forest areas, one postcard with name, address and phone number must be sent by Dec. 11 to the above Division of Forestry office.
For Punderson, those interested may register at the park office or send a post card with name, address and phone number to Punderson State Park, Beaver Trapping, P.O. Box 338, Newbury, Ohio, 44065-0224. Applicants should list a site preference, either Punderson Lake, Stump Lake or Pine Lake.

New outdoor show
News Radio 570 WKBN will add "The Outdoor Icon Show" to it's Saturday morning lineup.
The new show will air from 6 to 7 a.m. preceded by "The Buckeye Sportsman" at 5 a.m. and followed by "The Friendly Trapper" at 7 a.m.
Hosts for The Outdoor Icon Show will be Dennis Malloy, wildlife biologist and a former Ohio game warden and local entrepreneur Rob Palowitz, both long-time hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.
The show is being sponsored by Browning Doc's Deer Scents of Cortland.
MISCELLANEOUS
Audubon talks turkey
Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley will discuss the wild turkey at the club's November meeting, Tuesday.
Jeff Janosik of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife District Three office in Akron will present the lecture. The meeting all be held at 7 p.m. at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, state Route 46, Canfield.
