MERCER -- The Mercer County Courthouse Memorial and Honor Garden Committee is making its memorial and honorary bricks available for holiday giving. All bricks bought as a gift will come with a certificate. The certificate includes a facsimile of the brick and notification that the brick will be placed in the garden during the week of May 24, 2004. Bricks are $50 plus $3 tax, and each brick can include three rows of print with 17 letters per line. Proceeds from the brick sales are used to maintain the gardens. Program for parents
NEW CASTLE -- "Sex, Drugs, Rents n' Raves," a program for parents in Wilmington, Neshannock and Mohawk school districts, is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Neshannock High School. The program is offered by Lawrence County District Attorney Matthew Mangino and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office. After the forum, community agencies will distribute information on how to deal with the issues of sex, drugs, alcohol and smoking.
YSU grads in presentation
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Three graduates of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will play key roles in the New Castle Music Club Chorus' 63rd annual presentation of George F. Handel's oratorio "Messiah." The performance is at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at First Christian Church, 23 W. Washington St. Harry Cunningham is directing the performance. YSU graduates Paula Kubik and Hardin Butcher are playing instruments, and James Piccirilli, another YSU graduate, is singing a solo.
