Thomas and Donna Henderson are murdered during a hold-up at the Sohio service station Thomas Henderson managed in Milton Township. Mahoning County investigators believe Mrs. Henderson interrupted a robbery in which $500 to $600 was taken.
November 22, 1963: Downtown Youngstown shoppers gather around television sets in department and hardware stores to watch the latest reports on the shooting of President Kennedy in Dallas. With the news that the president had died, flags throughout the city were lowered to half staff.
A New York Appellate Court, calling a $3.5 million libel award to radio commentator John Henry Faulk "shockingly excessive," reduces the award to $550,000 and orders a new trial if he refuses to accept it. Faulk won the award during an 11-week trial in which witnesses told of the blacklisting of entertainers.

Warwick, vice president of the Realty Security Co., show that the Youngstown district is the second largest steel producing district in the United States and Youngstown, with nine banks and four building and loan associations, represent the largest capital of any city of Youngstown's size in the country.
Youngstown would be one of the best lighted cities in Ohio and would spend more money for street lighting than any other city, with the exception of Cleveland and Cincinnati, if the new lighting plan suggested by the Pennsylvania-Ohio Power and Light Co. is adopted.
