Keiper earns Eagle award
Brendan R. Keiper, 16, son of Bob and Colleen Keiper of Hubbard, has received his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting's highest honor.
He is a member of Troop 42, Arrowhead District, Greater Western Reserve Council. His scoutmaster is his father. Troop 42 is chartered by Church Hill United Methodist Church, Liberty.
Brendan began his Scouting career in 1994 as a Tiger Cub with Pack 100. As a Cub Scout, he earned the Arrow of Light award. A member of Troop 42 since 1999, Brendan has served as librarian, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and senior patrol leader. He earned 26 merit badges, completed North Star Junior Leader training, and was elected to Wapashuwi Lodge 56, Order of the Arrow.
His Eagle Scout service project was to remove old shrubbery and plant new trees and shrubbery for First Presbyterian Church, Hubbard.
Brendan is a sophomore at Hubbard High School, where he plays the tuba in the marching, symphonic and pep bands. He is a member of the varsity swim team, a member of the Hubbard Public Library Teen Advisory Board, an ordained deacon at First Presbyterian Church, and was a People-to-People Student Ambassador to Australia in the summer.

Saleh passes Ohio bar
Atty. Abeer Thameen Saleh, a daughter of Thameen and Wijdan Saleh of Youngstown, has passed the Ohio State Bar Examination and was sworn in as a licensed attorney earlier this month.
She is a 1995 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Akron in 2000 and received her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University earlier this year.
