HELOISE Epsom salts will make sheer curtains crisp

Dear Heloise: I am searching for an old hint for washing window sheers with Epsom salts to eliminate wrinkles. I would appreciate any help. Mary Helen Jones, Henderson, N.C.
Look no further -- here's the hint! This helps make freshly laundered sheer curtains crisp again.
Fill a sink with cool water and mix in 1 cup of Epsom salts until dissolved. Next, add the curtains and make sure they are completely submerged in the solution. Then remove (do not twist or wring) and hang them up to drip-dry. The sheers should be wrinkle-free, crisp and ready to rehang. Heloise
Dear Heloise: When taking a flight, I always tie a red or any other color ribbon to my luggage. That way, it's easier to spot at the luggage-pickup area.
I also put two safety pins on my key chain for those embarrassing times when the button or snap on one's pants breaks. Gary Larson, Jordan, Minn.
Dear Heloise: My husband and I enjoy trying different wines. We decided to keep a notebook with the labels from the wines we enjoyed. We paste the label in the book and write a few words about the wine, including the price. Joan from Houston
Dear Heloise: I have a great way to clean glass doors on fireplaces. Get a crumpled, dampened piece of newspaper, add cooled ashes from the fireplace and rub the glass in a circular motion. You will not believe that the grime comes right off. I follow this with another damp, clean piece of newspaper. Works like magic! Emmaly S., via e-mail
Dear Heloise: I have three small squirt bottles on my kitchen counter -- one with full-strength rubbing alcohol, one with half bleach and half water, and the other with water and two squirts of dishwashing detergent. I make sure each is clearly labeled.
The dish detergent is great for those one or two dishes that are always forgotten or for a quick cleanup on my kitchen counter, and I also use it for a pre-wash treater. The rubbing alcohol is great for cleaning my smooth-top stove and for mirrors. The bleach one is great for cleaning coffee cups or any items that come in contact with raw chicken, beef or fish. Marilyn Beebe, Erie, Pa.
Just be sure to keep out of reach of children and pets. Heloise
