Dinner party held for Checks on anniversary

XAUSTINTOWN -- The 54th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Check, 5315 Mahoning Ave., was celebrated with family and friends during a dinner party held Nov. 9 at Johnny's Restaurant in Boardman.
Hosts for the event were the couple's daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Robert Franklin of Cincinnati, Cathie and Steve Garstka of Canfield, and Brenda Ranolli of Youngstown. Six grandchildren complete the family circle.
The former Jeanette Zvara and Mr. Check were married Nov. 5, 1949, at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
Mr. Check served with the U.S. Army during World War II and retired in 1976 after 30 years of service with U.S. Steel Co., McDonald Works.
He and his wife have been in the upholstery business for more than 40 years. They are charter members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Senior Citizens.
