Dance planned for students with disabilities

GIRARD -- The third annual special-needs Winterfest dance for high school students with multiple, orthopedic and-or developmental disabilities will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St.
The event, open to students in any Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana high school, is sponsored by the MH/DH Special Education Units at The Rayen School in Youngstown.
The evening of dinner and dancing is chaperoned by the staff, administration, security and student helpers from Rayen with help from Youngstown State University student athletes.
Winterfest includes Santa, Mrs. Claus and elves; the naming of a Snow Princess, a Snow Prince and a court through drawings; and a professional photographer and videographer.
Dress is semiformal (no sweat pants, sweat shirts, jeans, shorts, school uniforms or tennis shoes) and parents are not permitted to stay during the dinner-dance portion of the festival, which runs from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Cost is $7 per ticket, including dinner. Registration deadline is Wednesday. For more information, call Jeanne Constantino at the Rayen School, (330) 744-8548 or (330) 744-8550; or e-mail her at YOUN_JMC@ACCESS-K12.org or JCONST2011@aol.com.
