BOARDMAN Fitness, health center to close; 40 out of work

BOARDMAN -- Dr. Anthony Pannozzo said he is closing Creekside Fitness & amp; Health Center on Dec. 15, which will put about 40 people out of work.
Pannozzo said a legal verdict he lost will create a financial strain on operations, and it also has sapped his desire to run the 4-year-old center at 1419 Boardman-Canfield Road.
The center was open to the public but also was an extension of his medical practice, which focuses on pain management and rehabilitation.
A Mahoning County Common Pleas Court jury awarded $160,000 to a former employee, who said she was wrongly fired. Pannozzo, who is appealing the verdict, says he has spent nearly $80,000 on legal fees.
A partnership of investors owns the building, which will be offered for lease after Creekside is closed, he said.
