Scientists can forecast location of wrinkles

KNIGHT-RIDDER
We're not sure you want to know this, but here goes: Scientists can now forecast wrinkles on your skin in the same way they predict earthquakes, Allure magazine reports.
They examine the forces that generate them.
Physicists at the University of Cambridge in England have a mathematical calculation to determine the interactions between the top skin layer (epidermis) and the underlying layer (the dermis).
By using human skin and an apple (which, like human skin has flesh between an outer layer), they can project the height and width of resulting wrinkles. (Do not try this at home.)
Wrinkles are, of course, caused by excess of the top skin layer as when skin ages and looses elasticity or the shrinking of the underlayer when muscles contract, such as from a furrowed brow.
The one bright spot is, the research may lead to better treatments or wrinkle prevention.
