Last year: Annika Sorenstam finished off the best LPGA Tour season in 38 years with a three-stroke victory. The Swedish star won 11 times in 23 2002 tour starts and broke her own records for scoring (68.70) and earnings ($2,863,904).
Last week: Dorothy Delasin won the Tournament of Champions in Mobile, Ala., beating South Korea's Hee-Won Han in a playoff.
Notes: Sorenstam played in the Tiger Skins last week in Singapore, earning $35,000 to finish second behind Retief Goosen ($130,000). Two weeks ago in Japan, Sorenstam wrapped up her sixth LPGA Tour player of the year award, winning the Mizuno Classic by nine shots for her sixth victory of the year. She had a 24-under 192 total to break the tour record for a 54-hole event. ... Sorenstam has earned $1,914,506 to top the 30 qualifiers for the season-ending tournament. Heather Bowie took the final spot with $389,159, edging Norway's Suzann Pettersen by $1,239. ... Delasin earned $122,000 last week to jump from 33rd to 22nd with $476,170.

Format: United States vs. Rest of the World, with each 12-man team consisting of six players age 40-49 and six 50 and older. Friday, six alternate-shot matches; Saturday, six best-ball matches; Sunday, 12 singles matches.

Last events: Jim Thorpe won the Champions Tour's season-ending Charles Schwab Cup on Oct. 26 in Sonoma, Calif., beating Watson by three strokes. Watson won the money title with $1,853,108. Mason won the Estoril Seniors Tour Championship on Oct. 12, his fourth victory in 11 starts on PGA European Seniors Tour.
Notes: Stadler, 50, won the B.C. Open in July to become the first senior tour player to win a PGA Tour event. He also won three Champions Tour events, including the Senior Players Championship. ... Palmer beat Gary Player 2 and 1 in the United States' 12 1/2-11 1/2 victory in 2001 in the inaugural matches in Kiawah Island, S.C.
