Ford to replace part in some Focus' fuel systems
WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co. said Wednesday it will replace a part in the fuel system of 671,000 Ford Focus vehicles because it can cause the engine to stall. Ford received reports of seven accidents and one injury due to the problem. It is notifying Focus owners this week about the defect. Focuses from 2000 and 2001 are affected.
Goodyear reports loss
AKRON -- Goodyear Tire & amp; Rubber Co. reported a third-quarter loss of $105.9 million due to charges for staff reductions, manufacturing consolidations and a loss in its North American tire segment.
The nation's largest tire-maker also announced late Wednesday that the Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an informal inquiry into the company's earnings restatement from 1998 through 2002.
