SALEM -- Two Ohio State football fans will be as fortunate as head coach Jim Tressel says his Buckeyes have been this football season.
The Buckeyes and the University of Michigan Wolverines tangle Saturday in the 100th meeting of the two teams. It's also a chance for the Buckeyes to win the Big Ten Conference championship and continue a quest to repeat as national champions.
Before settling in to watch the big game, Buckeye fans can buy chances to win a big basket of Ohio State goodies or an Ohio State football helmet autographed by Tressel.
The North Columbiana County Chapter of the American Red Cross will sell tickets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Salem Estate Sales on State Street.
Drawings
The drawings Dec. 6 will be held during the Holiday of Hope auction. Proceeds from the annual event benefit Red Cross programs, said Ginger Grilli, Red Cross executive director.
Grilli said tickets for a chance to win the autographed helmet are $20 each, and only 100 will be sold.
Tickets for the basket are $5 each. The contents of the basket include a black leather OSU jacket and 17 other Buckeye items such as a flag, T-shirt, clock, stadium bag and a singing bottle opener.
Grilli said fund-raisers such as the OSU raffles and the Holiday of Hope auction are needed because the ARC depends entirely on donations to provide services. Grilli said many people believe the Red Cross receives federal funding, but it is not a government agency.
