City will seek grants and loan for 3 projects



YOUNGSTOWN -- Council members have recommended the city apply for funding for three projects through the 2004 State Issue II process.
The city will seek:
UA a $1.17 million grant for a $1.7 million project to do the third of three scheduled drainage-improvement projects on the West Side.
UAn $800,000 grant for curbs, sidewalk, drainage improvements and paving of Woodland Avenue from Market Street to Poland Avenue.
UA $940,000 loan for a $2.1 million project to replace an old water tower that serves Youngstown, Austintown and Canfield.
Council said the West Side project is the first priority, then the Woodland Avenue project, then the water tower. There is about $7.3 million in 2004 Issue II funding available to Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
