NOTEBOOK From 3Com Park

What's the question? After catching a 61-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens celebrated with an end-zone dance, then pointed to a wristband that proclaimed "I am the Answer." Owens' contract expires at the end of the season.
Streaks: The 49ers have scored in 412 consecutive games. Their last shutout was in October 1977 in Atlanta. Owens has caught a pass in 110 straight games and had his 24th career 100-yard effort. Owens caught eight passes for 155 yards.
Longest since 1998: Kevan Barlow's 78-yard touchdown run was the 49ers' longest since Garrison Hearst set the team record (96 yards) in September 1998. Barlow rushed for 98 yards on eight carries then left the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion. He's listed as probable for next week.
More injuries: Steelers tight end Jay Riemersma injured his sternum when cornerback Ahmed Plummer hit him on a second-quarter pass play. The ball bounced off Riemersma's hands to safety Tony Parrish who returned it 48 yards to set up Todd Peterson's 32-yard field goal. Riemersma didn't return to the field. Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward ran deep early in the third quarter, stretched for an overthrown pass, stumbled and landed on his neck. The NFL's third-leading receiver played in the fourth quarter and finished with four catches for 44 yards. 49ers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson suffered a right quadriceps bruise in the second quarter. Tailback Garrison Hearst and defensive end John Engelberger suffered left ankle sprains.
Up next: The Steelers' (3-7) faint hopes for a third-straight division title depend on defeating their next two opponents: the Browns (4-6) Sunday in Cleveland and the Cincinnati Bengals (5-5) on Nov. 30 at Heinz Field. The 49ers (5-5) hit the road this Sunday for a game against the Packers (5-5) in Green Bay. The loser most likely will be eliminated from playoff contention.
Inactives: Jeff Garcia served as the 49ers' third quarterback. Also inactive were running back Jamal Robertson, safeties Zack Bronson and Ronnie Heard, guard Eric Heitmann, tackle Jerome Davis and defensive linemen DeVone Claybrooks and Andrew Williams. Brian St. Pierre was the Steelers' third quarterback. Tackles Barrett Brooks and Marvel Smith were inactive as were running back Dante Brown, tight end Matt Cushing, defensive tackle Chris Hoke, wide receiver Freddie Milons and linebacker Alonzo Jackson.
Lineup changes: Steelers guard Alan Faneca replaced Smith at left tackle. Keydrick Vincent replaced Faneca at left guard. For the 49ers, Tracis Kirschke replaced rookie left tackle Anthony Adams in the starting lineup.
