PENN STATE Receiver Tony Johnson's final home game was a relief

The senior had three TDs in a big win over Indiana.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- After the season he's had, this was the kind of game Tony Johnson needed.
Johnson had 47 yards on three catches, each one for a touchdown, in Penn State's 52-7 victory over Indiana (2-9, 1-6 Big Ten) on Saturday.
The State College Area High graduate did it on senior day, his last chance to rehabilitate his reputation for the hometown fans.
"It was my last time playing in Beaver Stadium, and we wanted to win so bad," Johnson said. "You'd do anything to get that win."
For his first touchdown, a 12-yarder from Zack Mills, Johnson simply beat the cornerback to the ball, tying the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. His second score, from 5 yards out, Johnson got clocked crossing the middle, but hung on to the ball to give Penn State (3-8, 1-6) the lead for good.
But Penn State's lead was just 21-7 at halftime, and the Nittany Lions had blown second-half leads in their last two games.
"I felt OK at halftime, 21-7," Indiana coach Gerry DiNardo said. "I felt like our defense started playing better toward the end of the first half. I felt like our offense could solve the third-down problem in the second half. What happened in the second half, I didn't expect that."
Johnson was part of that, too, scoring his third touchdown during Penn State's 31-point third quarter.
Before Saturday, Johnson's last touchdown catch was a 56-yarder in the season opener against Temple. And even though he came in to Saturday's game as Penn State's leading receiver, he had become known more for the passes he'd dropped than the catches he'd made.
"I just thought I needed to take all the ownership and put the load on my shoulders and try to go out and get everything done," Johnson said. "I was putting myself in too much of a bind. I was pressing to make the big plays."
