YOUNGSTOWN -- Jermaine Watson, 25, of Ives Street was in guarded condition this morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the head around 10 p.m. Sunday on the East Side. The shooting took place at his girlfriend's house in the 1500 block of Shehy Street. Watson gave police a suspect's name and said the shooting was over a stolen video game, reports show.
Boy suspended over listabout other pupils
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that an eighth-grader at Austintown Middle School made a list of 56 other pupils he thought should die. School officials found the list Friday. The boy, 14, told a school counselor that the pupils on the list had called him names, reports state. He said he didn't want to hurt the pupils, but that he had made the list to feel better. He had written "die" at the top of the list and had empty boxes for check marks next to each name. The boy has been suspended.
Robbery attempt
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are looking for a man who pointed a gun at a drive-through employee Saturday at McDonald's on South Raccoon Road. The employee, 17, told police the man ordered a breakfast sandwich from the drive-through menu at about 6:20 a.m. When the man pulled up to the drive-through window, he pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. The employee said she closed the drive-through window and spoke with her manager, who called police. The man drove away.
Woman tied up in burglary
AUSTINTOWN -- A woman told police she was bound with duct tape early Saturday by men who burglarized her boyfriend's Maplecrest Drive home. The woman, 44, of North Meridian Road, told police she woke up at 2 a.m. in her boyfriend's bed to find a man standing over her asking where guns could be found in the home. He and two other men had broken in, she said. The woman said her boyfriend was at work at the time. She told the man there were no guns in the home. The man then bound her hands and feet with duct tape and taped her to the bed. He also placed duct tape on her mouth. The man joined the two other burglars and left with a TV, VCR and DVD players. The woman's boyfriend returned to the home at about 11:15 a.m. and found her; he called police.
Woman reports rape
YOUNGSTOWN -- An 18-year-old Liberty Township woman told police she was walking north on Belmont Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when a man came up behind and attacked and raped her. She was unable to give police any description of the assailant but said he ripped her shirt off and took it with him. She was treated at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Bad-check charge
LIBERTY -- A Youngstown man who police say tried to pass a bad check at a local business is free after posting bond. Aaron J. Brescio, 23, of Ayers Street, was arrested on a felony count of passing bad checks after a clerk from Midwest Money on Gypsy Lane called police around 10:45 a.m. Saturday and said Brescio was trying to cash a $4,000 check.
Warren man is chargedwith homicide by vehicle
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Timothy Ryan Mallory, 27, of Northfield Northwest, Warren, Ohio, was charged with homicide by vehicle in the May death of a Sharpsville man. Pennsylvania State Police said Mallory was driving north on the toll portion of Pa. Route 60 at about 95 mph when he lost control of his car and was ejected. His passenger, Donald Allan Kermiet, 34, of Georgetown Street, Sharpsville, was found dead in the back seat, police said. Lawrence County District Attorney Matthew Mangino said Mallory's 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer had a sensing and diagnostic module, which provided information about the speed of the vehicle immediately before the crash May 25. According to Mangino, the module is similar to black boxes installed on commercial aircraft that provide similar information. Mallory also faces charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol and aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence.
