BEAVER COUNTY, PA. Woman's death attributed to high winds in storm

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) -- A woman died after hitting her head when strong winds blew her over on a sidewalk, authorities said. The death was at least the fifth in Pennsylvania attributed to Thursday's storm.
Eleanor Douds, 84, of Chippewa Township, was pronounced dead about 2:25 p.m. Thursday, Skip Haswell, Beaver County deputy coroner said. "The winds were very, very strong," he said.
Sandy Zack, who owns a hair salon, said Douds was trying to enter the shop.
"I saw she was having trouble getting the door open, so I held the door open for her," Zack said. "A huge gust of wind came and knocked her on the ground and she hit her head on the sidewalk. ... She never got her foot in the store."
Thursday's storms had gusts of 60 mph and knocked out power to thousands in Pennsylvania. About 79,000 electricity customers in the state were still without power Friday evening.
Zack's death was at least the fifth in the state attributed to the storm.
Deaths in Lehigh, Perry and Centre counties were blamed on trees' falling onto vehicles. In Cambria County, snow was blamed for a one-car accident that killed a sixth-grade teacher.
