Sharon hospital offers contests to help smokers kick the habit

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Lung Center of Sharon Regional Health System is offering some incentives to help those who want to quit the smoking habit.
The center, located inside the hospital's Cancer Care Center at 2320 Highland Road, is sponsoring three contests Thursday with the Great American Smokeout.
The first contest is for those who visit the Lung Center by Thursday and take a smoke-free pledge to keep their home smoke-free and their family away from secondhand smoke.
Participants will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the Shenango Valley Mall.
The second contest is for any smoker who registers at the center by Wednesday for counseling with Thursday as the specific "quit smoking date." The winner of a drawing will get 12 weeks' worth of free over-the-counter nicotine replacement products.
The third contest is for any smoker who is pregnant and starts a smoking cessation program at the center. Participants must remain smoke-free for six months. The prize is a $200 gift certificate to Babies R Us to be drawn March 31, 2004, which is Kick Butts Day.
