Delphi officials, union extend negotiations past deadline
YOUNGSTOWN -- Electrical workers and Delphi Packard Electric Systems agreed to continue contract talks past Saturday night's deadline.
All workers are to continue to report to work as scheduled, said Kevin Hartill, vice president of Local 717 of the International Union of Electrical Workers in Warren.
Hartill said Saturday that union negotiators called during a brief break in talks to say that talks would go on. Either party can break off talks with a three-day notice.
Hartill said the negotiators in Detroit gave him no information on the status of specific issues. Local 717 represents about 4,000 area workers.
