Youngstown Connection
The Youngstown Connection, an elite student song and dance troupe representing the Youngstown City School District's high schools, will perform with the Cleveland Opera Circle in "La Straniera" by Vincenzo Bellini. The two performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Church, 3469 E. 65th St., Slavic Village, Cleveland, and Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, 13001 Cedar Road in Cleveland Heights.
The Connection received tutoring in Italian singing with Dr. Stephen Ausmann of Youngstown State University, and the Youngstown State University/Youngstown City Schools Smart Partnership.
The Youngstown Connection will also join singing groups from 18 states performing in NBC's 9 a.m. broadcast of the 2003 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Once Upon a Christmas
CANFIELD -- Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten will present its 15th annual Once Upon a Christmas craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Admission is free, and parking is available. The show features about 100 vendors selling holiday and country crafts. There are also homemade baked goods and candy, decorated holiday bags, and a concession stand.
Annual craft show
NILES -- Shepherd of the Valley-Niles will have its annual craft show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at 1500 McKinley Ave. Admission is free to the event, which features crafts, ceramics, jewelry and food for sale.
Playhouse: 'Cinderella'
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Cinderella," the classic fairy tale, is the 2003 holiday offering by the Youngstown Playhouse, and will open for a three-weekend run Dec. 5.
Starring in the Playhouse production as Cinderella is Jacqueline Diaz. The prince is played by Matthew White, and Nicole Dionisio and Cheryl Gregory are the stepsisters, who provide much of the show's comedy. The stepmother is portrayed by Terri Wilkes.
