Jennings center plans program on reading tracks

Slippery Rock, Pa. -- More than just impressions in the snow, tracks are moments frozen in time that present a brief but continual record of an animal's life experience. Jennings Environmental Education Center will provide a program on tracking in the snow from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 13.
Enrollment is limited. Participants must register by contacting the center at (724) 794-6011 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday no later than Dec. 5. The Adult Field Learning Experience is designed for ages 16 and up and provides more in-depth information about outdoor topics. Bring a sack lunch and dress for the weather.
Learning to read the tracks provides an opportunity to see and understand how animals move, act and react to winter's hardships. Jennings' staff will demonstrate how to identify tracks and read trails before stepping outside to interpret the stories in the snow.
Jennings is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other environmentally related activities.
If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, contact the Jennings Center at (724) 794-6011, or make inquiries through the Pennsylvania AT & amp;T Relay Service at (800) 654-5984 (TDD).
