MOUNT UNION (9-0, 8-0 OAC)vs. WILMINGTON (2-7, 2-6)
When/where: 1:30 p.m. at Williams Stadium, Wilmington.
Last year: Mount Union 62, Wilmington 0.
Scouting report: Mount Union clinched a tie for the Ohio Athletic Conference championship with a 55-7 win over Ohio Northern last Saturday, their 12th straight title and 15th overall. Mount Union's win extended its winning streak to 51 games. Junior RB Rick Ciccone scored a career-high four touchdowns, three by rushing and one on a pass reception. He rushed for 66 yards in 18 carries. Junior QB Zac Bruney passed for 355 yards on 18-for-26 and three TDs. Senior WR Nick Sirianni had a career-best 164 yards in pass receptions on four catches and one TD. Wilmington defeated Heidelberg, 19-13.
WESTMINSTER (5-4, 3-1 PAC)vs. WAYNESBURG (7-1, 4-0)
When/where: 1:30 p.m. at Wiley Stadium, Waynesburg, Pa.
Last year: Westminster 33, Waynesburg 29.
Scouting report: Westminster can earn a share of the President's Athletic Conference with Waynesburg and Washington & amp; Jefferson with a victory. A Waynesburg win would give it the PAC crown outright for the first time since 1968. The Titans fell 41-39 in a non-conference game against Thomas More. Senior QB Joe Getsy (Lowellville) set a school record with 409 yards on 26-for-43 with two TDs and two interceptions. Senior WR Brian Ekis (Boardman) set two school records with 13 catches for 221 yards, with two TDs. Ekis was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Titan of the Week, and also was selected to the d3football.com team of the week. Ekis leads the PAC in receptions per game (6.0) and is ranked No. 2 in reception yards per game (90.4). Getsy ranks No. 2 in passing yards per game (147.4). He has passed for 1,179 yards on 89-for-157 with nine TDs and six interceptions. Junior RB Scott Froelich rushed for 206 yards in 31 carries and three TDs and caught five passes for 88 yards. Senior FB Ryan Mitchell (Warren Harding) rushed for 12 yards on four carries and caught two passes for 36 yards. On defense, sophomore CB Tom Froelich had eight tackles, while junior OLB Ryan Aleski and senior safety Mike Cubellis (Neshannock) had seven each. Junior DT Tony Ventresco (Boardman) had four tackles and one fumble recovery, and was named Defensive Titan of the Week. On special teams, freshman kicker Kyle Trimble (Western Reserve) averaged 42.0 yards on two punts.
THIEL (2-7) vs. KENYON (2-7)
When/where: 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School Field, Gambier.
Last year: Did not play.
Scouting report: Thiel lost to Alfred last Saturday, 14-9, while Kenyon was idle. Senior TB Justin Napotnik sparked the Tomcats' first scoring drive by gaining 63 of the 80 yards, including a 10-yard scoring dash. Napotnik finished with 50 yards on 11 attempts. Sophomore TB Darious Thompson of Thiel led all rushers with 67 yards in 11 carries. Sophomore QB Mike Lindenfelser completed 15-of-29 passes for 117 yards, while sophomore WR Tom McEntire caught seven passes for 47 yards.
ALLEGHENY (6-3, 6-0 NCAC)vs. OHIO WESLEYAN (4-5, 2-3)
When/where: 1 p.m. at Robertson Field, Meadville, Pa.
Last year: Allegheny 30, Ohio Wesleyan 16.
Scouting report: Allegheny clinched its first NCAC championship since 1997 with a 42-21 win over Earlham last Saturday. Senior Brian Woods set a school record with 344 all-purpose yards. He had 172 yards receiving, 118 yards on punt returns (including a 65-yard TD), and 54 yards on kickoff returns. He scored four TDs. Woods was named NCAC offensive player of the week. Sophomore Kyle Geiser rushed for 117 yards rushing in 12 carries for his first 100-yard game of his career. Senior Ryan James of Kennedy Catholic High and New Castle had a game-high 10 tackles. Ohio Wesleyan defeated Oberlin 24-7. Freshman CB Tom Thome was named NCAC defensive player of the week with seven tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
HIRAM (1-8, 0-5 NCAC)vs. EARLHAM (1-8, 0-5)
When/where: 1 p.m. at Charles A. Henry Field, Hiram.
Last year: Earlham 28, Hiram 3.
Scouting report: Hiram suffered its worst loss in nearly 90 years last Saturday, 81-0 to Wabash. Earlham, meanwhile, dropped its fifth straight game, 42-21 to Allegheny. John Papacostas, a freshman WR and kick returner, has set Hiram single-season records with 37 kickoff returns for 715 yards. Papacostas also set and tied school single-game records in Hiram's season opener at Grove City with seven kickoff returns for 144 yards. Hiram's Tim Anderson, a sophomore back, set a school record for single-game rushing yards with 224 on a career-high 38 carries against Kenyon. Freshman QB Tom Roszell's 1,303 passing yards this season rank as the third-most in school history by a first-year signal caller. Former Hiram QB Dwayne Pavkovich from Poland High, who now is a coach, holds the school record for passing yards by a freshman with 1,707 in 1998.
MALONE (2-7, 0-5 MSFA-MIDEAST)vs. QUINCY (4-6, 2-3)
When/where: Noon. at QU Stadium, Quincy, Ill.
Last year: Did not play.
Scouting report: Malone is coming off a 13-9 loss to Taylor, while Quincy lost to St. Francis, 34-13. The Pioneers were at Taylor's 14-yard line with just over a minute to play, but were stopped on downs. Junior RB Eric Smith rushed for 200 yards and one TD to pace Malone. Senior QB Nyrell Knight was 8-for-23 for 84 yards and one interception, and he also rushed for 55 yards in 11 carries. Junior DB Mitch Fusek (Canfield) led the Pioneers with 15 tackles, including four for losses and four sacks. Fusek also returned three kickoffs for a 24-yard average.
WALSH (8-2, 5-0 MSFA-MIDEAST)vs. ST. FRANCIS, IND. (10-0, 5-0)
When/where: 1 p.m. at Cougar Stadium, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Last year: St. Francis 40, Walsh 29.
Scouting report: The teams will play for the conference championship for the fifth straight season -- St. Francis has won all four previous meetings. The Cavaliers defeated Urbana 41-3 last week while St. Francis beat Quincy 34-13. Walsh is ranked No. 21 in the NAIA. If the Cavaliers win, they will qualify for the NAIA playoffs for the first time. Sophomore QB Dan Kane threw for one TD and passed for another and completed 11 passes for 216 yards, to lead Walsh. Freshman Mike Lum kicked field goals of 40 and 24 yards. Junior safety Alex Gray returned an interception 58 yards for a TD. Senior Derek Besgrove rushed for 91 yards in 25 carries, giving him 1,614 yards for the season to lead the NAIA.
GENEVA (5-4, 3-2 MSFA-MIDEAST)vs. URBANA (3-7, 2-3)
When/where: 1:30 p.m. at Reeves Stadium, Beaver Falls, Pa.
Last year: Geneva 20, Urbana 14.
Scouting report: Geneva scored 13 unanswered points to take a 13-9 lead with just over eight minutes left to play, but Tiffin scored with 2:22 remaining to post a 16-13 win last Saturday. Junior TB Josh Mullen led Geneva's ground attack with 117 yards in 19 carries and one TD. QB Ben Swallow (West Branch) passed for 151 yards and one TD, to Tony Clackler. Mark Villella has seven interceptions this season and 19 for his career. Sophomore Tom Contenta had a career-high 17 tackles while Brian Hall added 11.
SLIPPERY ROCK (4-6, 2-3 PSAC-WEST)vs. CLARION (2-8, 1-4)
When/where: 1 p.m. at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium, Slippery Rock, Pa.
Last year: Slippery Rock 21, Clarion 14.
Scouting report: Clarion defeated Lock Haven last week, 22-9, while Slippery Rock lost to Indiana (Pa.), 27-14. Brandon Markus led Slippery Rock with 101 yards on 17 carries, while Josh Kniess picked up 54 yards on 14 rushes and Chad DeVore completed 8-of-15 passes for 107 yards. The Rock gave up 471 yards of total offense to IUP while managing only 275.
