CANFIELD -- Dates for the 14 Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society's 2004 Relay for Life events are:
April 16, 17: Youngstown State University.
May 7, 8: Austintown Fitch High School stadium; and Niles McKinley High School stadium.
May 14, 15: Boardman Center Middle School stadium; Warren G. Harding High School's Mollenkopf Stadium, Warren.
May 21, 22: Crestview High School football field; Liberty High School stadium.
June 4, 5: East Liverpool Mangano Memorial Track; Cortland Lakeview High School stadium.
June 11, 12: Lordstown High School.
June 18, 19: Sebring High School stadium; Salem Reilly Stadium.
June 25, 26: Campbell (location to be determined); and Columbiana County Fairgrounds, Lisbon.
Relay For Life is ACS' signature fund-raising event. Teams of 10 to 15 participate, with each team raising a minimum m of $1,000 and at least one member walking around the track at all times during the 24-hour event.
Heart disease in women
Go Red for Women is a new major movement by the American Heart Association to educate women that heart disease claims the lives of about 500,000 women each year, said Elaine Welsh, communications director for the local AHA. The campaign, which is the largest initiative of the AHA, will launch nationally in February, American Heart Month. The first Friday, Feb. 6, has been designated as "Wear Red Day." The American Heart Association has created a red dress pin, a symbol of commitment to fighting heart disease in women.

Simplicity in living
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen offers the program "Choices for Simplicity," with Ren & eacute; Laventure Ph.D., a counseling psychologist, at Villa Maria Community Center on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Laventure has practiced voluntary simplicity since 1985.
