Anthonys observe 50th anniversary at family brunch

XYOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anthony, 1703 Lancaster Drive, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at a family brunch held Oct. 25 at the Boardman home of their daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Peter Pylypiw.
Also participating were the couple's family, Richard and Linda Gettemy of Fort Myers, Fla.; Dan and Doreen Anthony of Limerick, Pa.; Janet and Mike Splain of Canfield; and Jackie and Dan DiOrio of Richmond Hill, Ga. There are nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren in the family.
Mr. Anthony and the former Irja Wirtanen were married Oct. 24, 1953, at the Old Stone Church in Cleveland. They are members of Highway Tabernacle.
Mr. Anthony received a Purple Heart for his service in the Korean War. In 1980 he retired from LTV Steel Corp., the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co., in Austintown.
Mrs. Anthony, who is known as "Marge," is a homemaker.
