HELOISE Clip will keep track of list and cart

Dear Heloise: I use a small, bright-colored plastic clip (kitchen type) to fasten my shopping list onto the top basket of a grocery cart.
This helps me see my cart, even from a distance -- such as in the produce department, where I am apt to meander. It also helps other shoppers avoid taking my cart by mistake, and it keeps my list handy to read at a glance.
The bright clip is a smile-maker when other shoppers tell me they like the idea. I read your column in the Rockford Register Star. Phyllis Patnou, Rockford, Ill.
Phyllis, these clips are handy for all kinds of things! Just a reminder -- don't leave your purse in the cart and walk away, even for a moment. Heloise
Dear Heloise: I just discovered a gem! The liquid cleaner for my smooth-top stove does a miraculous, quick job of cleaning the inside of my glass shower doors!
After a shower, just squirt it on the inside of the glass, wipe the glass down, then turn on the shower and rinse it off! Glass and the metal frame shine like a new penny, and no mineral buildup.
I also clean my tile and the shower floor using a long-handled sponge mop -- it's lots quicker. Kay Cook, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Dear Heloise: You know how your lipstick container becomes useless before the lipstick is all gone?
I have countless numbers of contact cases around, and one day I thought I could use one for two of my favorite shades of lipstick that I run out of the quickest. I dug out the lipstick and put one shade in each. It works like my lip gloss, and I use a brush or my finger. Joyce Lambert, Cincinnati
Dear Heloise: I do a lot of counted cross-stitching. Sometimes I do prepackaged pictures or other things, and many times there is floss left over. I store that floss and discontinued floss away.
When I have a hem to repair or a button or snap to sew on, I use this floss doubled up, and it usually matches whatever item I am working on. It saves money instead of buying a new spool of thread. Anne Perkins, Belmont, Mich.
Dear Heloise: I fold pillowcases and fitted sheets inside the top sheet. Then I sew together the ends of a piece of 1-inch-wide elastic long enough to go around everything. This keeps it all together in the linen closet. Gwen Sullivan, Cheraw, S.C.
Dear Heloise: This clever hint is from my son, Matt Caterisano, a student at the University of Texas-Austin, who must have learned it the hard way.
When laundering shorts that have zip-off long pant legs, always wash the "legs" as well to avoid uneven fading! Deby Mathalon, Plano, Texas
XSend a money-saving or timesaving hint to Heloise, P.O. Box 795000, San Antonio, Texas 78279-5000, or you can fax it to (210) HELOISE or e-mail it to Heloise@Heloise.com. I can't answer your letter personally but will use the best hints received in my column.
