STATE TOURNAMENT ROUNDUP Cincinnati Ursula captures record 8th title
The Bay Village Bay girls soccer team won its second straight state crown.

FAIRBORN -- Cincinnati St. Ursula won its record eighth title, Kettering Alter repeated as the Division II winner and Orrville and Centerburg picked up their first championships at the state volleyball finals.
Maggie Schmelze had 14 kills and eight digs to lead St. Ursula to a 15-10, 15-7 win over Cincinnati Ursuline in the Div. I final Saturday.
The Bulldogs (29-0) finished as the state's only undefeated team. They have won all their titles in the last 11 years -- six in Div. II and two in Div. I. St. Ursula had shared the record of seven titles with Newark Catholic.
In Div. II, Carrie DeMange's 20 kills, nine digs and three blocks led Kettering Alter to a 15-3, 15-11 win over Millersburg West Holmes.
TaNeisha Winters had 14 kills and three blocks to lead Orrville (28-1) to a 15-5, 15-9 win over Versailles (22-7) for the Div. III title. It was the first state championship appearance for both schools.
In Div. IV, Centerburg (29-1) earned its first state title by beating St. Henry (27-2) 15-9, 15-12 behind Ami Stevens' 24 kills, six aces and eight digs.
Girls soccer
COLUMBUS -- Bryn Heinicke had two goals and Bay Village Bay beat Cincinnati Indian Hill 5-1 to win its second straight Div. II state championship.
Natty Naso had a goal and an assist for the Rockets (19-4-0), who also won the state title in 1999.
Dublin Coffman won the other championship decided at Crew Stadium on Saturday, with Lindy Slinger's goal in the 57th minute the difference in a 1-0 win over defending champion Strongsville in the Div. I final.
Bay Village dominated Indian Hill with a 34-4 edge in shots and a 17-3 advantage in shots on goal. Halle Plagens and Kaity O'Hara also scored for the Rockets. Amanda McCaw scored the only goal for Indian Hill.
Boys soccer
COLUMBUS -- Bexley won its first state title and Westerville North and Cincinnati Madeira also captured championships.
Max Stan and Jeremy Fox each had a goal and assist to lead Bexley's 4-0 victory over Chagrin Falls (15-7-1) in the Div. II title game Saturday.
In the Div. I final, Jordan Koblens scored in the eighth minute to give Westerville North its first state title since 1995 with a 1-0 win over Toledo St. Francis.
Chris Justice scored two goals and assisted on the game-winner as Cincinnati Madeira defeated Gates Mills Hawken 3-1 for its second straight Div. III title.
