NEW YORK -- Tony Amonte's shots and passes were on target during a short, yet successful overtime.
The first drive off his stick caught goalie Mike Dunham in the mask, the next one set up Marcus Ragnarsson 1:01 into the extra session in Philadelphia's victory.
Amonte scored the tying goal in the third period and then made things easy for Ragnarsson. Earlier on the shift, Amonte fired a shot during a two-on-one and caught Dunham high.
Undeterred, Amonte made a pass out in front to Ragnarsson, who beat Dunham with a quick shot from the right side.
Maple Leafs 4, Oilers 1
TTORONTO -- Alexander Mogilny scored twice and had an assist, and Ed Belfour made 34 saves for Toronto.
Mats Sundin and Robert Reichel also scored for the Maple Leafs, 3-0-1 in their last four games. Edmonton's Ryan Smyth spoiled Belfour's shutout bid with 8:54 remaining.
Fans chanted 'Eddie, Eddie!' after Belfour made several impressive saves in the second and third periods. His 406 wins are sixth on the NHL's career list, one less than Glenn Hall. Oilers coach Craig MacTavish removed goalie Tommy Salo after he allowed three goals on eight shots. Ty Conklin replaced Salo at 3:45 of the second and stopped all 14 shots he faced.Thrashers 4, Islanders 3
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Serge Aubin scored with 8:32 left, finishing off another Atlanta Thrashers rally and sending the New York Islanders to a rare home loss.
Pasi Nurminen made two big saves at the end of an Islanders power play, and Shawn McEachern then rushed the puck up the left side on a two-on-one. He faked a slap shot, and passed to Aubin, who beat a diving Rick DiPietro.
Sharks 3, Capitals 2
WASHINGTON -- Jonathan Cheechoo's goal snapped a second-period tie.
The Sharks, who broke a three-game winless streak, have beaten Washington eight straight times. San Jose had just one win in its previous 10 games (1-5-5-1).
Canadiens 3, Sabres 0
MONTREAL -- Jose Theodore got his NHL-leading fourth shutout and drew an assist on Chad Kilger's goal, leading Montreal.
Theodore, who has allowed just two goals in his six wins this season, made 16 saves for his 21st career shutout as Montreal ended a three-game losing streak.
Jan Bulis and Sheldon Souray also scored, and Patrice Brisebois had two assists for the Canadiens, outscored 24-7 while losing six of seven, including a 2-1 setback Friday night in Buffalo.
Devils 1, Senators 0
OTTAWA -- Scott Stevens scored early in the third period, Martin Brodeur made 26 saves for his 66th career shutout.
It was the teams' first meeting since the Devils eliminated the Senators in seven games in the Eastern Conference finals last season.
Stevens, who missed New Jersey's game Friday night to attend a funeral, scored at 6:34 of the third period.
Scott Gomez won the faceoff for the Devils and Christian Berglund tipped the puck back to Stevens, who beat Patrick Lalime with a quick shot.
Brodeur, who earned his second shutout of the season, and Lalime each made a number of big saves in keeping the game scoreless. Lalime finished with 19 saves.
The Senators had a number of chances in the third period to tie the game, but couldn't find a way to beat Brodeur.
Shane Hnidy made his season debut for the Senators after missing the start of the season with a foot injury.
Hurricanes 3, Kings 2, OT
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Rookie Eric Staal scored with 2:16 left in overtime, giving Carolina the win over Los Angeles.
Ron Francis and Danny Markov each scored a power-play goal in the second period for the Hurricanes. Kevin Weekes finished with 33 saves.
Ziggy Palffy scored with 22.2 seconds left in regulation to send the game into the extra period. He also assisted on Jaroslav Modry's goal in the second for the Kings, who had won four straight on the road.
In overtime, Jeff O'Neill chased down a loose puck in the left corner, then found Staal skating toward the front of the net. The 19-year-old forward went right and backhanded the puck past goaltender Roman Cechmanek for his third goal of the season. Staal also had an assist.
Bruins 4, Stars 1
BOSTON -- Sergei Samsonov scored a goal and added an assist as Boston captured its first home win.
Glen Murray, Michal Grosek and Travis Green also scored for Boston, which was 0-1-2-1 in its first four games at the FleetCenter.
The Bruins have an Eastern Conference-leading 20 points in 14 games, and beat Dallas for just the second time in 11 games.
Mike Modano scored for Dallas, which lost its third straight -- all on a three-game East Coast road trip in which the Stars were outscored 11-2.
Predators 4, Red Wings 3
DETROIT -- Scott Walker's power-play goal with 57 seconds left capped a four-goal third period for Nashville.
Scott Hartnell, Vladimir Orszagh and Martin Erat also scored for the Predators, who trailed 3-0 going into the third period.
Brendan Shanahan and Tomas Holmstrom each had a goal and an assist, and Kris Draper also scored for the Red Wings.
Blues 2, Panthers 0
ST. LOUIS -- Keith Tkachuk scored twice, and Chris Osgood made 21 saves for his 39th career shutout. Tkachuk, who has nine goals, has scored the game-winner in three straight games for the Blues, who have won five of their last six. The shutout was the first of the season for Osgood, and third in 20 regular-season games with St. Louis.
