BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Patrik Stefan scored on a penalty shot, and Randy Robitaille and Ilya Kovalchuk each had a goal and two assists for Atlanta, which snapped a three-game winless streak. Shawn McEachern added three assists for Atlanta, which turned a two-goal deficit after the first period into a 4-3 lead with three consecutive goals by Jean-Pierre Vigier, Ivan Majesky and Robitaille in a span of 3 minutes, 23 seconds late in the second period. The Sabres, 4-2-1 over their last seven games, took a 3-1 lead on first-period goals by Maxim Afinogenov, J.P. Dumont and Curtis Brown.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jamie Langenbrunner scored with 42.7 seconds remaining in overtime. Scott Stevens set up goals by Christian Berglund and Turner Stevenson, to reach 900 career points. Martin Brodeur made 13 saves to help the Devils extend their winning streak to four games. The Sharks have five points in the first five games of a season-high, seven-game trip. Scott Thornton and Alexander Korolyuk scored for the Sharks, who have won only two games yet have 10 points thanks to five ties and the overtime loss to the Devils. Thornton tied it midway through the third period, when San Jose pulled even for the second time. Mike Ricci threaded a backhand pass through the slot that Thornton slipped past Brodeur at 8:10.
Canucks 4, Predators 3
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Sami Salo scored a power-play goal and assisted on another for Vancouver. Jason King, Trevor Linden and Brendan Morrison also scored to help the Canucks improve to 7-0-2 in their last nine games. Scott Hartnell, Adam Hall and Scott Walker scored for the Predators. Canucks backup goalie Johan Hedberg made 23 saves to improve to 3-0-1.
Kings 3, Panthers 2
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Derek Armstrong and Trent Klatt scored power-play goals in Los Angeles' first victory at Florida. Jonathan Sim also scored for Los Angeles. Nathan Horton and Mike Van Ryn scored for Florida. Thanks to Armstrong, the Kings were able to win for the first time ever at Florida, snapping a seven-game funk that included four losses and three ties.
