YOUNGSTOWN -- Edward T. Kennedy, a Youngstown State University graduate, has joined the intellectual property practice group at Buckingham, Doolittle & amp; Burroughs, a law firm with offices in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus and Boca Raton, Fla. Kennedy earned bachelor's and master's degrees in materials engineering from YSU and earned a law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.
Before joining the firm's Canton office, he was an associate with another law firm in Cleveland, and he worked as an engineer in the plastics machinery and plastics processing industries before becoming a patent attorney. He lives in Strongsville.
BANKING
WARREN -- Second National Bank has appointed four new community mortgage loan originators as part of an effort to increase home ownership opportunities and expand its home mortgage delivery system in urban communities. The following loan originators have been assigned: Rose Carter, based in the bank's Girard location; Tomier Davenport, in the bank's Akron location; Mark Weber, in its Ashtabula location; and Frank Thomas, in its Warren location.

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Drs. Samer Makhoul and Manuel Forero have joined the consulting staff at UPMC Horizon in Greenville, Pa.
Dr. Makhoul, an intensivist and pulmonologist, earned his medical degree from Aleppo University School of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria, and completed residencies at Aleppo University Hospital and Conemaugh Hospital/Temple University in Johnstown, Pa. He completed an internship at Lincoln Hospital/New York Medical College in Bronx, N.Y., and fellowships in pulmonary and critical-care medicine at Allegheny University Hospital in Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His practice is at Total Lung Care, East State Street, Sharon.
Dr. Forero, a cardiologist on staff at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa., has a practice at Consultants in Cardiology on North Street in Meadville. He earned his medical degree from Escuela de Medicina Juan N. Corpas, M.D., in Bogata, Colombia, completed an internship and a residency in family medicine at Santa Clara Hospital in Bogata. He also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals in New Orleans.
BOARDMAN -- Trans Health has expanded therapy services at its Greenbriar health care campus on South Avenue in Boardman and hired Danetta Claybrook as team leader, a new position in its rehabilitation department. Claybrook is a graduate of the University of Southern California and has a bachelor's degree in exercise science and sports medicine and a master's degree in occupational therapy. She has 10 years' experience in supervision and management and is an associate professor at Kent State University.

SALEM -- Two brokers representing Stamp Realty in Salem were recognized for their sales performance recently by the Ohio Association of Realtors. Kathy Hendricks was presented the President Sales Club award for $2.5 million in sales. Ruth Harsh was given the President Sales Club Award for $1 million in sales.

POLAND -- Teri Foos Simon of Poland, an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Inc., has been promoted to independent sales director for the company. She is one of 18,000 women worldwide serving in the position with the Dallas, Tex.-based skin care and cosmetics company.
